A one week Faculty Development Programme was organized by Department of Management Studies on “Entrepreneurship And Innovation” from 8th to 13th July, 2019, convened by Prof. Priyanka Sehgal, HOD, Department of Management Studies, Cordinated by Dr Ankur Sabharwal and Ms Kanika Garg, PIET. Faculties of various Institutes and from various departments enthusiastically participated in the sessions. Objective of the FDP was to expose the participating members to the comprehensive entrepreneurship development and equip them with the requisite skills, knowledge and competencies fro effective initiation of goal oriented activities in their respective institutions. The inaugural session was delivered by the Chief Guest of the programme, Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Dhamija , Dean Academics and international affairs, HOD- EDIC, Chairman, Academic Cell, NITTTR, Chandigarh, on the topic “Blue Ocean Strategies For Entrepreneurship Development”. Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar, Director- PIET addressed the audience and enriched the session by sharing his knowledge on “Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship”. Prof. (Dr.) S. K. Bedi, Chief Academic Mentor- PIET Prof. (Dr.) Sanjeev Mittal, Professor – Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University Delhi., Mr. Subhash Chand Kwatra General Manager- Punjab and Sind Bank New Delhi along with Mr. Ashish Seth- Chartered accountant, Delhi, delivered their sessions on “ Key issues in entrepreneurial finance” and “Government Schemes to support entrepreneurs and their initiatives”. Prof. (Dr.) Mridula Mishra, HOD- HR, Mittal School of Business, Lovely Professional University, being one of the key spokes persons of the FDP, delivered her session on “Strategic leadership for entrepreneurship”. Mr. T.K. Ruby a renowned industrialist shared his personal life experiences and explained how he turned to be a winner from every situation that led to hurdles in his business. Mr. Ramesh Bajaj, a renowned industrialist and District Governor- Elect, Rotary shared his valuable experiences that filled faculty with zeal and they applauded loud. Sh. Suresh Tayal, Member-Secretary, Board of Governors, PIET enriched the participants by sharing his experiences and journey from scratch to the success. Prof. (Dr.) Meenakshi Gandhi, from Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies,Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, beautifully delivered a session on Entrepreneurship and innovation by quoting a large number of Indian budding entrepreneurs and making it a very interactive session. Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar, Director-PIET shared his experience on “How technology enhancement will be a collaborative effort from entrepreneurs and technicians” and on “How to be an effective leader” Prof. Priyanka Sehgal, HOD- Department of Management Studies shared her views on “Innovation & Entrepreneurial Investments” and on “Entrepreneurship Plus”, with interesting activities for the participants for better understanding of the core objective of the FDP. Dr. Akhilesh Mishra has wonderfully delivered a session by connecting the financial aspects of the entrepreneurship with that of the Chankaya Nitti, along with practical implications and business plan formulation for the entrepreneurs. Dr. Saurabh Garg shared his views on “Digital Marketing Strategies and Techniques for Business” to run smoothly in today’s current scenario of competitive era. The entire session was a continual platform to learn and enhance knowledge that can motivate and inspire the youth to be a Job creator rather than being a job seeker only.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering of PIET has organised a one week short term course on “Design of Experiment and Advanced Optimization Technique” from 10th to 14th July, 2017. The objective was to provide an opportunity to budding researchers, faculty members, as well as students a greater cognizance of current techniques which are used by researchers to derive the experiment analysis and result conclusion. Apart from the basic theme of the course the topics like plagiarism and how to write a good research paper were also discussed to enrich the knowledge and enlighten the participants. The inauguration ceremony was performed by Prof. Dr. Hari Singh, NIT Kurukshetra. During the Course various renowned speakers from reputed institutes expressed their valuable concerns about the issue in hand. The topics covered by the speakers ranged from Quality, Taguchi’s Approach, Research Surface Methodology, Multicriterion Decision Making, AHP, Fuzzy Logics, MATLAB, and Artificial Neural Network.
The Department of Applied Sciences & Humanities, organized two weeks Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Entrepreneurship in-association with ABES Engineering College, Ghaziabad from 19 June to 1 July, 2017. The program was sponsored by National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The Program was organized with an aim to equip the faculty to develop vision, strategy and structure for Entrepreneurship development in the educational institution, to inculcate entrepreneurship values among the students, to organize entrepreneurship awareness camps and other entrepreneurship related orientation programs. Various expert lectures were delivered during the program to develop entrepreneurial competencies, business environment scanning, business opportunity identification and on market survey tools and techniques. Around 22 faculty members from various departments got benefited by this programe and learned techniques & enterprise management skills. The Programe was coordinated by Dr Vinay Khatri, Head, Ash department and Mr Mahender Gupta, manager care ABES engineering college.
CII Institute of Logistics (CII-IL) organized a summit with agenda “Emerging trends & scope of employment in Logistics Sector” which was scheduled on 2nd march at 3:00 pm at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Kinjal Rajbhar, Manish Grover & Jyotsana Dhamija (Students-MBA) attended the summit from PIET and reported that the summit had well organized and structured discussions regarding various employability scope and logistics as an emerging sector which shall be touching heights in the coming decade. It also cleared the vision how CII-IL is going to help the students achieving in the heights of career, by building blocks for employability in logistics sector and bridging the yawning gap by honing the students. CII industries highlighted the emerging trends & scopes of employment in the logistics sector. It was a great summit to motive the students with the new venues and possibilities latent in this field. The summit presented the whole scenario of logistics and its importance in coming decade. Most importantly they interacted with laureates from the field, which was a totally new experience for our students. PIET always look forward to send the students to attend such valuable summits & conferences to keep the students abreast with the latest updates.
A National Level STC (ICT Based) on “Cyber Security and Forensic Tools” has been organised in PIET College by CSE Dept. in collaboration with (NITTTR Chandigarh) from 6.2.2017 to 10.2.2017. The Opening ceremony of the STC was completed by our Director “Dr. KK Paliwal and HOD (CSE) “Mr. Vikram Bali”. HOD’s of other departments have also attended the session. Cyber security is the collection of tools, policies, security concepts, security safeguards, guidelines, risk management approaches, actions, training, best practices, assurance and technologies that can be used to protect the cyber environment and organization and user’s assets. Organization and user’s assets include connected computing devices, personnel, infrastructure, applications, services, telecommunications systems, and the totality of transmitted and/or stored information in the cyber environment. Cyber security strives to ensure the attainment and maintenance of the security properties of the organization and user’s assets against relevant security risks in the cyber environment. The general security objectives comprise the following: – Availability, Integrity, which may include authenticity and non-repudiation, Confidentiality. It was a very knowledgeable session.
The Department of Computer Applications has organized a One Day workshop on “Technicalities of Writing a Perfect Resume” on 2nd January, 2017 (Monday) for the students of MCA and BCA programmes. It aims at sharing the art and science of writing a perfect resume for technical graduates in such a manner that it seems convincing that the graduating student is good to hire. It shall cover points related to Objective definition, presenting educational qualification and technical skills possessed by the candidates together with personal details likes strengths, weakness and other details. The workshop was formally initiated with the Lighting of Lamp for Maa Saraswati. The resource persons shared their experiences of making the resume that maps different parts of the resume in a single line and theme. A National Level STC (ICT Based) on “CLOUD COMPUTING” has been organised in PIET College by CSE Dept. in collaboration with (NITTTR Chandigarh) from 5.12.2016 to 9.12.2016. The Opening ceremony of the STC was completed by our Director “Dr. KK Paliwal” and HOD (CSE) “Dr. Vikram Bali” and HOD’s of different Departments. Cloud computing is a type of Internet-based computing that provides shared computer processing resources and data to computers and other devices on demand. It is a model for enabling ubiquitous, on-demand access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g., computer networks, servers, storage, applications and services), which can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort. Cloud computing and storage solutions provide users and enterprises with various capabilities to store and process their data in either privately owned, or third-party data centers that may be located far from the user–ranging in distance from across a city to across the world. Cloud computing relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economy of scale, similar to a utility (like the electricity grid) over an electricity network. All the Faculty Members have enjoyed the session and gained a lot of information and performed the practical.
The Department of Management Studies- MBA, Panipat Institute of Engineering & Technology (PIET) conducted a one-week ICT Programme on Entrepreneurship and Business Incubation Using Blue Ocean Strategy from 7 – 11 November, 2016 delivered and sponsored by NITTTR, Chandigarh. The course was premeditated for faculty of Management and Technical Institutions so as to persuade and motivate them to develop an entrepreneurial aptitude to incubate new business ventures. The course gained significance due to the current focus of Govt. of India on its scheme: Start-up-India. Hence, it was hailed as a timely learning opportunity by the participating faculty. Prof. (Dr.) K.K. Paliwal Director, PIET was the in-house Chief Guest for this Course and acknowledged the efforts of EDC Department – NITTTR, which is flourishing under the headship of Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Dhamija, for providing this learning opportunity to the faculty and expressed his fervor for more such courses to be organized in future at higher frequency. During the Valedictory Session, Mrs. Priyanka Sehgal- Convener of the course and Head – Department of Management Studies (MBA), PIET, laid down the importance of Blue Ocean Strategy for a country like India considering the huge available pool of skilled talent and the nascent stage of development of a number of upcoming and promising sectors in the country signifying a huge growth potential in this area.
A National Level STC (ICT Based) on “Digital Repository and Storage Management” has been organised in PIET College by CSE Dept. in collaboration with (NITTTR Chandigarh) from 1.08.2016 to 5.08.2016. The session was inaugurated by Director Dr. KK Paliwal. A data repository refers to an enterprise data storage entity (or sometimes entities) into which data has been specifically partitioned for an analytical or reporting purpose. Data Repository is a logical (and sometimes physical) partitioning of data where multiple databases which apply to specific applications or sets of applications reside. For example, several databases (revenues, expenses) which support financial applications could reside in a single financial Data Repository. The overall motive of the program was to enhance the knowledge of Faculty Members on latest topics and research areas.

This Course was intended to develop a pool of faculty competent in enabling the Department to become Quality center, which will eventually improve the standards of teaching and learning. Swati Gupta, HOD, ECE Dept. PIET. Researchers from academia and industry, faculty of the college and students enthusiastically participated in the sessions. Chhabra, Ex- deputy director, Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), Chandigarh were the main speakers in the programme. A Seminar (ICT Based) on “Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Filing Procedure” Has been organised in PIET College by CSE Dept on April 7 2016. in collaboration with (HCST) Haryana Council of science and technology The Opening ceremony of the seminar was completed by our Director “Mr. KK Paliwal AND HOD (CSE) “Mr. Vikram Bali”. Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the intellect for which a monopoly is assigned to designated owners by law. Intellectual property rights (IPRs) are the protections granted to the creators of IP, and include trademarks, copyright, patents, industrial design rights, and in some jurisdictions trade secrets. Intellectual property is divided into two categories: Industrial Property includes patents for inventions, trademarks, industrial designs and geographical indications. Intellectual property rights include patents, copyright, industrial design rights, trademarks, plant variety rights, trade dress, geographical indications and in some jurisdictions trade secrets. A patent is a form of right granted by the government to an inventor, giving the owner the right to exclude others from making, using, selling, offering to sell, and importing an invention for a limited period of time, in exchange for the public disclosure of the invention. All the Faculty Members and students have gained a lot of knowledge about copyrights and patent filing.
A seminar was conducted by ATE Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. to share knowledge on topics like Advancements in Card and Comber, Digital printing, Metal Detectors and Warp Knitting on 30th March, 2016. Mr. Vikash Sharma, Mr. Dipanjan Ghosh, Mr. Nikhil Yadav and Mr. Ashwani Koul were the main speakers in the seminar. Faculty of textile department attended QIP Sponsored four days short term course on “Textile Structure and Structural Composite” from 15th -18th February, 2016 in IIT Delhi.
A two day workshop ‘VISION ROBOTICS’ was organized in the department from 4th-5th March, 2016 under the aegis of 7th Edition of ROBOTRYST International Robotics Championship in Tryst 2016, the Annual Technical Festival of IIT Delhi. This workshop included the practical sessions on ‘Installation of Software and Debugging’ using Robosapiens ‘AVR BOOT Flasher v1.0 Beta’ and assembly of DIY kit of Robosapiens iBOT Mini V3.0 for the development of Laser controlled line following robot. A sample kit was provided which was useful during workshop hours. By the end of this workshop every student was able to create a line follower robot by themselves. After the hands on and practical experience of the workshop, Zonal Round Competition was conducted for the participants. On behalf of Robosapiens Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Certificate of Merit was distributed to the Zonal Round winners and to the participants. Zonal winners represented the college in a competition ROBOTRYST 2016 organized by IIT Delhi.
To understand the rising needs and user’s requirements of textile products, Textile department at PIET organized an International Workshop on “Innovations the Opportunities in Textile Technology” from 5-6 Nov. Lee Managing Director KFC Doona Engineering Corp., Korea has delivered lecture on Innovation in Printing & Textile Engineering in the seminar organize by textile department.
The AICTE sponsored staff development program on “Making Technical Teaching Effective” organized by the department of Business Administration from 26 June to 2nd July was appreciated by all the speakers and participants for the coverage of range of relevant topics related to effectiveness of teaching. A number of expert speakers belonging to reputed institutions in the country, Prof. M.M. Anand, Former Dean and Head Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, Prof. S.K.Bedi, MDU, Rohtak, Prof. Harbhajan Bansal, GJU, Hissar, Dr. Sunil Dutt, N.I.T.T.T.R., Chandigarh were invited who added to the learning experience and at the same time added to the value of the institution.
A two day workshop on Robotics Technology was organized at PIET campus on 24th-25th September. The workshop was conducted by Himanshu Srivastava from Robosapiens, Noida in association with e-cell IIT Kharagpur. The workshop ended on a successful note with the zonal round for ‘Robotryst-2012 Championship’ and the winning team comprising of Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Sarthak Bajaj, Lakshay Dahiya and Kashish Chawla of B.Tech 1st year got an opportunity to participate in ROBOTRYST 2012.
